Regional Radio Communication Seminar For Arab Region

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the UAE (TRA) hosted the ITU Radio-Communication Seminar for the Arab Region at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, on April 22 – 26, 2007. The participants were relative representatives from all the Arab Countries (22 Arab Country).

The main objective of this seminar was to enable participants to familiarize themselves with the regulatory procedures for terrestrial and space services and with the associated tools for notification of the frequency assignments, including the related software. The lectures and discussions were held in English and Arabic with simultaneous interpretation.

The Seminar discussed a number of issues, such as an overview of the regulatory procedures applicable to terrestrial services; notice forms and notification formats for terrestrial services; the role of ITU with emphasis on the Radio-communication Bureau; a review of regional activities; the National Spectrum Management; Orbit/Spectrum Allocation Procedures – Registration Mechanism/ Cost Recovery; coordination of satellite networks; general introduction on Space Software; current SNS database structure and evolution; SpaceCap, SpaceVal, SpaceCom, SpaceQuery, SpacePub, GIMS, and SRS on CD-ROM; BR space Web; SNS-on-line, SNL-on-line and BR IFIC; Receivability of Space Notices – rules and application; Terrestrial Broadcasting Plans (GE75, GE84, GE89, GE06); HFBC; GE06 procedures (Digital Broadcasting, Analogue Broadcasting, other primary services); other terrestrial plans (AP25, AP26, AP27, GE85); Article 11 procedure; notification and recording of assignments; Technical Regulatory Assistance (including E/S); BSS and associated feeder-link plans and lists (AP30/30A); and FSS Allotment Plan (AP30B). The Seminar also encompassed an incorporated workshop entitled: Space and Terrestrial.
