The TRA is Launching the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA)

September 03, 2007

The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and within its scheduled strategy, is launching the website of the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA) that will become the definitive and authoritative resource for all facets of the Domain Name Industry.

In this respect, H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA Board Member & Director General, commented: “The TRA has endorsed the .aeDA to manage the .ae domain name on behalf of all domain name owners and internet users, both in the country and worldwide.”

Mr. Al Ghanim added: “Domain Name retailers (Registrars) and end users will have access to all relevant Industry information in an easy-to-read and simple-to-understand format. The aim of the website is to promote the Domain Name System framework, highlight the different members, and promote the use and utility of the .ae domain name.”

Mr. Al Ghanim clarified that, “The website has been released ahead of the launch of the new ‘World’s Best Practice’ Registry System that has been developed specifically and exclusively for the .ae Domain Name. The launch of the Registry will be towards the end of the year when the incumbent, Etisalat/ UAEnic with hand over the technical and administrative management of the .ae domain to the .aeDA.”

In his turn, Eng. Mohammed Al-Khamis, ICT Analyst at the TRA, stated: “The .aeDA team will be attending the GITEX Exhibition (GulfComms) in Dubai from 8 – 12 September 2007, and will be situated at the TRA Stand/ Zabeel Hall/ Stand Z-D 10. The .aeDA team will be available to discuss the .ae Domain Name and the new regime and framework that will be launched towards the end of the year.”

Eng. Al-Khamis added: “We consider such discussions to be important to the public to find out more information about this important transition, as there will be changes to the policy surrounding the .ae Domain Name along with the way in which members of the public can secure their name through the opening up of the market to various retailers, once the new system is live.”

Eng. Al-Khamis concluded: “Importantly, organizations that wish to become retailers (Registrars) of the .ae Domain Name will be invited to speak to our team, and be instructed on the technical and administrative processes, so that they will be ready in time for the launch of the new system.”

However, if more information or clarification are needed, or should one wished to schedule for a meeting with the .aeDA team, it is possible through sending an e-mail message to info@aeda.ae.
