August 12, 2010

To enhance the cyber security culture and increase information security awareness across the UAE, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) introduces “Salim”, the Emirati Cyber Security Advisor, in Ramadan in Abu Dhabi Al Oula 3D animated cartoon “Kharareef” broadcasted daily at 19:10 and Abu Dhabi (Emirate TV) at 22:15.

Each day in the 15 minute episode, Salim will appear in the strip banners giving a useful tip related to the safety measurements that should be taken by everyone to guarantee a safe and secure online environment for both mobile phones and PCs. The tips will cover different areas such as anti-virus, passwords, safe browsing to the internet and more

On this occasion H.E. Mohamed Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA said: “Providing a secure cyber environment to the public is one of the TRA most important priorities, introducing Salim in Ramadan will allow us to reach more audience and give them the useful tips regarding their online protection.”

“Salim, the cyber security advisor, is a part of (aeCERT) awareness campaign; the character considers an embodiment to the TRA strategy in the area of information safety.” Added Al Ghanim.

SALIM is the peak of the advertising awareness campaign that the aeCERT launched around the end of June 2009 to enhance the standards and practices of IT security in the UAE, and to introduce the ways of protecting the IT information in order to insure a safe cyber culture.
