In a move to support cooperation on issues of cyber security, The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented in Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), a TRA initiative, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dubai General Department of Civil Defense.
The MoU was signed during the currently on-going GITEX Exhibition in the presence of H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of the TRA, and Major General Rashid Al Matrooshi, Director General of the Dubai Civil Defense Department, where both stated the importance of mutual cooperation to limit electronic threats.
From his side, H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of TRA, stated: “The regulatory authority commits to providing its expertise in the field of electronic security for governmental agencies when security threats continue to increase and multiply, thus jeopardizing internet users.”
The MoU sets the framework for IT barter that could be utilized to anticipate cyber threats and respond to it. Through this framework, the team will have the ability to identify potential threats and support the electronic system of the Civil Defense Department, in addition to working on developing its response methodology and procedures.
The National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) aims at enhancing the standards and practice of IT security. It also commits to preserving a safeguarded cyber security infrastructure in parallel with the TRA strategy which aims at securing a safe electronic space for the country, its citizens and residents.
