In support of its objectives for the UAE telecommunications sector encouraging innovation, development, education, and continuous improvement of services to consumers, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has participated in the "Second Conference on Technology Management 2011", organized by the Department of Information Technology at Manipal University, Dubai - UAE.
The conference was held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in "Al Wasel" ballroom in the Dusit Thani hotel. It was attended by researchers and experts in the field of information technology, representatives from a number of educational institutions, marketing and software companies, information systems management, IT project management and students from engineering and technology management and related programs. A representative of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Emergency Response Team also attended.
H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, commented on the participation of the Authority in this important scientific research conference, "Our participation in the activities of this conference comes in the context of the TRA commitment to deploy cyber security awareness across the country. We also seek through the Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) to provide a secure electronic environment which companies and organizations can use to excel in their areas of work."
Engineer Ali Alamadi, Incident Handler and Threat Analyst - aeCERT - TRA, delivered a presentation focused on effective strategies for information security management, outlining effective strategies for security risk management. He also presented an overview of the Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) and its role enhancing internet security awareness, building national expertise in information security, computer forensics, incident management and critical infrastructure.
The conference is an initiative that encompasses issues relating to the entities involved in the information technology sector. The current conference "2011" aims to bring together researchers, industrialists and academics in the field of information technology to discuss issues that serve to narrow the gap between technology and management.
