TRA Sets Press Conference Revealing Details of Telecommunications Sector Golden Jubilee

Al Ghanim: Our founding father Sheikh Zayed have placed the foundation stone of the telecommunications sector in our beloved countr

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has set a momentous press conference during GITEX Technology Week revealing details about the Golden Jubilee of the telecommunications sector. The conference took place at 12:00 at the TRA stand (ZE 10). A remarkable number of guests and media figures as well as personnel from telecommunications sector have attended the conference.

H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, commenced the press conference demonstrating the reasons that inspired the TRA to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the telecommunications sector. Al Ghanim conveyed the authority’s utmost gratitude and appreciation for everyone who contributed in founding this sector that has become the nerve of the economic life. Let alone its direct role in interlinking the communities of our country in addition to bridging relationships with other countries.

In this regard, H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, stated that: “The telecommunications sector plays a pivotal role in linking the corners of the country, directly affecting our lives. Indeed it is the cornerstone and collarbone of the economies of countries. We owe the mammoth progress that is witnessed in that sector to the vision and foresight of the founding fathers of the Emirates, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his brother Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the unlimited support of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE, springing from his unwavering faith that the telecommunications sector is a pillar of promoting the distinctive status of the UAE and ensuring an ideal environment for business and progress. I would like also to extend my gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Al Ghanim Added: “The telecommunications sector has stood witness to the extraordinary boom of our country, and it had always been an active player in the sustainable development of the UAE for the past three decades”.

The history of telecommunications and the stages it had undergone in the early sixties of the past century until this very day were highlighted, demonstrating the rewarding events each period witnessed.

Believing in the importance of this historical role which witnessed contributions from the UAE leadership and people, a book will be issued by the TRA to highlight the rise of telecommunications sector, shedding light on the contributions of individuals as well as entities. This book shall serve as a reference for everyone who wants to acquire more details on the founding of the telecommunications sector and the various developing stages it has undergone. Also, this book will be for us to remember our legendary pioneers who facilitated the path towards achieving these tremendous ventures and triumphs.

During the press conference, TRA announced that it will honor many figures that played a chief role in the debut of the telecommunications sector and contributed to establishing its solid infrastructure.

The regulatory aisle at the GITEX Technology week embraced a mini-museum that incorporated historical masterpieces and images that chronicle the legacies and events of distinguished figures during the history of the telecommunications. The incorporated masterpieces have attracted attendants who showed stood in awe in front of such rare and genuine work of art. During the conference, managers as well as designated personnel helped answering press questions that unveiled more details.
